TURNmusic announces an artist residency for creatives (musicians or performing artists) and composers to compose, develop and create at the base of Hunger Mountain, launching summer of 2025. 

What we offer

  • Space to Create

    The retreat center, Stowe Skyline Home, is located in Waterbury, Vermont, at the base of the Hunger Mountains surrounded by a hay field, native perennial gardens and an orchard. This beautifully renovated, 4 bedroom modern farmhouse provides ample indoor and outdoor space for creating and relaxing. Parking for multiple vehicles. Sorry, no pets allowed.

    Includes:

    3 nights accommodation at retreat house (single/double/shared rooms) with continental breakfast for retreat participants(+) (August 5-8)

    All linens provided, soap and shampoo/conditioner in bathrooms, group kitchen and dining room, air conditioning, laundry room.

    Expansive grounds to wander, record sounds, and create, including trails and sitting spots, a fire pit, an orchard, a stream, and decks. 

    Easy access to a local reservoir a short drive away for relaxing, swimming and boating.

    Fee

    $450 per person for a total of 3-4 nights at the retreat home, with access to The Phoenix and TURNmusic, and services listed to the right. 

    Cleaning fee additional to be split by participants: $180

    +Companion housing available for an additional fee, please inquire. 


  • Space to Perform

    This summer we are thrilled to offer the chance to work with pianist Adam Tendler on August 7th at The Phoenix Gallery & Music Hall, in Waterbury, Vermont. Adam is a renowned contemporary pianist and DIY culture advocate, raised in Vermont and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.

    Includes:

    A two-hour consultation with a mentor (Adam Tendler).

    One public performance in our 60-seat listening room at The Phoenix Gallery & Music Hall in Waterbury, Vermont.

    Daily free rehearsal space at The Phoenix and at the retreat center.

    Marketing in TURNmusic’s digital newsletter and write ups in local newspaper events sections. Access to our press team and press support.

    Adequate power for your equipment next to the stage; 

    A mixer with 4 channels with two powered speakers; 3 SR58 mics & stands); 

    Ample lighting; carpet for main performance area; 

    Steinway Model M piano (1929) with adjustable bench
