Belgian-born Helen Gillet is a singer-songwriter and surrealist-archeologist focusing on the worlds of electronic sound and acoustic cello. She moved to New Orleans in 2002, where she has developed an eclectic palette of experimental, jazz, folk, funk, pop and classical and has self produced fourteen albums to date. She is the recipient of the Doris Duke Performing Artist Award, Downbeat Magazine has named her Rising Star twice and New Orleans has given her the best Contemporary Jazz, Female Performer and Other Instrumentalist awards.
